Mommy the Photographer
I took these pictures a few weeks ago at the park but never got the chance to post them. I think they turned out pretty good.

Mommy Talk
So, I haven't posted in a while because I keep having problems with our computer/Blogger. Nothing to big going on right now. Just being a mommy to my favorite boy. Micah is just as cute as ever...at least I think so! He is really turning into a full fledged toddler, especially with his language. I can understand most of what he says when it's one, two, or three words together. But when he tries to speak in lengthy sentences, I'm lost.

Micah is very fascinated with my shoes and my jewelry. He likes to go in our closet and drag all my shoes out into the bedroom. He doesn't try them on yet, but I fully expect to find him walking around in heels in the next few months. The other day, I had my "Wilma Flinstone" necklace on as Joe calls it. Micah said "Neck-ace, neck-ace," so I let him try it on. Too cute!

Micah had a pretty bad ear infection a couple of weeks ago and wouldn't eat. The doctor prescribed antibiotics, and he has been a different child since the medicine kicked in. You may know that Micah is pretty small as far as weight goes. The last time he went to the doctor, he was in the 90th percentile for height but only the 25th percentile for weight. Of course, I'm always worried he's not eating enough. So when he quit eating all together, I panicked. Since he's been on medicine, his appetite is even BETTER than it was before. He's eating us out of house and home! I haven't weighed him, but his face looks fuller, and he seems heavier when I carry him.

I think he may be going through a growth spurt because he's sleeping more as well. Normally, if I open the door to his room, he wakes right up. After sleeping for 2 and a half hours at nap time the other day, this is what I found.
Actually, when I first found him, he was facing me. I started to rub his back and talk to him to try to rouse him. He sat up, looked at me, and layed back down facing the other direction. Poor baby did not want to wake up!

My good friend Martha and her fiance are coming to visit us this weekend (actually tonight). I am really excited! This will be our first non-family visitors since we've been here. Unfortunately, the weather is supposed to be pretty yucky while they are here (possibly tornadoes, but I didn't tell them that!). I was hoping we could venture down to Memphis and do some fun things around there. We'll find something to do. Maybe I'll have something interesting to post about next week.

At the Zoo
Last weekend, we went to the Memphis Zoo. Micah and I have been to the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago, but this was our first zoo trip as a family. We thought Micah would really enjoy it since he's so into animals. And he did....if we could pull him away from looking at park benches and drain covers long enough to see the animals! :) We saw all sorts of animals. Micah could name a lot of them. At one point, we saw an ostrich. When we asked Micah what it was, he said, "Duck!" Everyone around started laughing. Afterward, we decided to go ahead and get a season pass. After 2 and 1/2 trips to the zoo, it pays for itself. There's not a lot to do here in Jackson, so we thought we'll probably go several times. It will be something to do when we have visitors as well.

Snow Day
We had a really fun day yesterday. The weather forecast was calling for a rain/snow mix (i.e., slush) on Saturday evening into Sunday morning. It rained all day Saturday until about 5:00pm. Then came the flakes. Beautiful snow flakes. And they kept coming and coming and coming. By Sunday morning, we had about 10 inches of snow! I've never been so thankful for a misguided forecast. This was Micah's first REAL snow. It snowed last winter, but he was only 6 months old and could not enjoy it. We had a dusting of snow a few weeks ago but nothing to write home about.

This was the best snow I have seen in a while. We dressed Micah in his best cold weather gear. He doesn't have any boots, but I happened to have my snow boots from 1984...pink Mickey and Minnie Mouse boots. They were just his size. It was either that or plastic bags over tennis shoes. My son is not ashamed :) Once we got outside, Micah wasn't sure what to think. He couldn't really walk in the snow because it was too deep. My parents gave me a sled for Christmas a few years ago, so we pulled Micah around on it. He loved it! We've had a few warm days lately that have made me long for spring to arrive, but I'm so glad we got to see and enjoy one good snowfall before it makes its debut.
