What a Little Ham

I asked Micah to smile for a picture. This is what I got.

Micah was helping Joe water some plants the other day. This is what he looked like when it was all done.

You can't really appreciate just how wet he was from this picture, but he was soaked! He decided it would be fun to run through the waterhose while Joe watered a tree. He had a blast!

Big Boy Bed

When we returned from the beach, Joe & I decided to get Micah a twin size bed & move his furniture to the now nursery. We had originally planned to paint our guest room furniture & give it to Micah, but the bed was full size & we agreed that it would take up too much room in this tiny bedroom. So, we found a cheap but cute bed & dresser at Walmart & set everything up. Micah has been sleeping in his "big boy bed" for a week now, and he absolutely LOVES it! The first couple of nights were really easy. We pushed the bed against a wall & put a rail on the other side so I don't think he quite realized he was able to get out. Now he's figured out that he can so he likes to stand on the end of his bed, turn the light on, & open the door a few times before he finally settles down for bed. So far, it's not been that difficult, but I know as he gets older he'll probably get up 500 times making every excuse he can to not go to sleep. Then again, he's always loved his sleep (just like his mom) so we're prepared but he may surprise us after all.

Beach Trip

Last week, we went to Destin, FL with my parents and brother. This was Micah's first beach trip. Joe & I had been looking foward to this trip for weeks & hoped Micah would enjoy it as much as we knew we would. We pretty much spent our days heading to the beach early in the morning & staying til lunch then heading back to the hotel for naps then going out for a yummy dinner. The first day on the beach, Micah was very unsure about the sand. As the week went on, this uncertainty turned to sheer terror. He refused to walk on the sand & screamed bloody murder when I made him as none of us could carry him while carrying all our beach gear. Once we got our beach blanket out & set him on it, he was a happy child.

The ocean was a different story. Micah LOVED the water...well, once we got past the waves. Or what little waves there were. I have never been to a beach on the Gulf. I'm used to Myrtle Beach or North Carolina beaches where the waters can be a bit rough but that's nothing unusual. Here, the yellow flags were out for moderate risk when the waves were the most gentle waves I've ever seen in my life. Joe held onto Micah in the water while Micah screamed with delight. The water was so clear. It was really like swimming in a pool.

All-in-all, it was a great trip. Micah enjoyed spending lots of time with Mamaw, Papaw, and Uncle Adam. Needless to say, he was spoiled rotten by the end of the week. Joe & I had a good time playing cards with my parents & brother every night after Micah went to bed. We really hated to come back. Thanks for letting us tag along Mamaw & Papaw! We love you!
